“Moving Pains” / New Outtake From the Film / Auction 4 days Left! / 80 Day Count Down POV-TV

People think I am a gypsy, and from all external measures I seem to be so. But I have one little secret: I have lived in the same loft in Tribeca, in Manhattan, for thirty years. Meanwhile, my boyfriend has lived in his same apartment in Zurich for fifteen years, ten of which we have been together. Recently though, he found a new larger place to live and proposed moving. I agreed with him, all excited. I thought of his old apartment as a little dark and a little small. The new place was bright and sunny, with a big main room like my loft in New York. But as we packed the boxes last week, I began to worry. Suddenly I realized how cozy our lives have been all these years and how much we had been nurtured by the privacy of the old space. I began to think that maybe the new loft would be too big for us and too exposed to the world: Would our relationship be swallowed up by the new space?Well, I am here to report that after spending last week moving, sweating, getting dirty and unpacking, my fears were unwarranted. Of course the new space is different, but it gives us something the old apartment did not. We keep commenting to each other how expanded we feel. We even act a bit differently towards each other, trying on a new dance. And I wonder: Do all human beings face change with anxiety and regret, suddenly digging our heals in the ground and screaming “NO!”

I never get used to change, no matter how much I realize in hindsight that it made me grow and accomplish new things. So when Cynthia Lopez, Executive Vice President of the Television Series, P.O.V., sat me down one day this Winter and told me about her dream of fundraising for additional PR for the MY REINCARNATION Premiere Launch on P.O.V., I must say my belly did a back flip. On the one hand, I agreed with her: given the state of public funding, we needed more monies to get people to tune into the film. But on the other hand, diving back into the fundraising waters again brought up a big, “UGH, OH NO!” in me. I was just feeling safe and relaxed in my little room, so to speak. But the huge potential of the American television audience, won me over. With Cynthia Lopez’s expanded PR plan we would be able to organize a way for one of the last living Tibet Trained Masters, Chögyal Namkhai Norbu, to speak directly to the press on television and radio in two tightly organized studio press mornings. I knew that without this plan Rinpoche would never have the time or energy to meet the press one by one. So I took a deep breath and told P.O.V. I would do my best to help raise a minimum of $50,000 for a Satellite Television and Radio Tour.

So 4 weeks into the campaign, I am here to report that we have raised $16,728! But the clock is ticking. We still have a minimum of $33,000 to raise. There are several ways you can help support the outreach and PR for the US Television Premiere of MY REINCARNATION as the Opening Show of P.O.V.’s 25th Anniversary Season on June 21st, 2012!
